Services in detail

Strategy planning session with sticky notes on a whiteboard

Strategy day

A full day dedicated to one question: where should your business go in the next 12 months, and what needs to happen to get there? We run this session at your premises or at a hired meeting room, whichever you prefer.

The morning is diagnostic. We review your financials, map your customer segments, and identify the products or services that generate the most profit per hour of your time. By lunch, we have a clear picture of where the money actually comes from.

The afternoon is planning. We pick the two or three initiatives that will have the biggest impact on revenue or margin, define the milestones, and assign responsibilities. You leave with a written plan and a timeline. Two weeks later, we have a 30-minute call to check that the first actions are underway.

This service works well for owners who do not need ongoing coaching but want a structured day to step back and think clearly about the year ahead. It is also useful as a one-off before you commit to a full coaching cycle.

One-to-one coaching session between coach and client

One-to-one coaching

This is our core service. It follows the 90-day cycle described on our process page: a diagnostic session, six fortnightly meetings, a written action plan, and a quarterly review.

Sessions are 75 minutes. We do not use a rigid agenda; instead, we start each session by reviewing progress on the action plan and then spend the remaining time on whatever is most pressing. Some sessions are entirely about a staffing problem. Others focus on pricing, marketing spend, or how to handle a difficult client relationship.

Between sessions, you can email us with short questions. We reply within 24 hours on weekdays. If something urgent comes up, we can arrange a 20-minute call outside the regular schedule at no extra charge, up to twice per cycle.

Most clients stay for two to four cycles. The first cycle usually focuses on quick wins: fixing pricing, removing unprofitable services, or restructuring the owner's week. Later cycles tackle bigger structural changes like hiring a manager, entering a new market, or preparing the business for sale.

Peer group coaching session with business owners around a table

Peer group programme

Six business owners meet once a month for a half-day session. Each person presents a challenge or decision they are facing, and the group works through it together, facilitated by us. The format is structured: each "hot seat" lasts 25 minutes, with clear rules about asking questions before offering advice.

We select group members carefully. Everyone in the group has revenue between £500k and £2m, runs a team of at least four people, and operates in a different sector from the other members. This avoids competitive tension and brings a wider range of perspectives.

In addition to the group sessions, each member gets one 45-minute private coaching call per month. This is your chance to discuss anything you did not want to raise in the group, or to go deeper on something that came up.

The programme runs in six-month cohorts. We open applications twice a year, in January and July. Places fill quickly because we cap each group at six.

Financial health check

This is an add-on service available to coaching clients and strategy day participants. For a flat fee of £450 plus VAT, we spend half a day reviewing your management accounts, cash flow forecasts, and pricing model.

We are not accountants, and this is not an audit. What we do is look at your numbers from an operational perspective. Are your margins where they should be for your sector? Is your cash conversion cycle creating unnecessary pressure? Are you pricing based on cost-plus, value, or gut feeling?

After the review, you receive a written report with specific recommendations. Typical findings include underpriced services, excessive supplier costs that have not been renegotiated in years, and revenue concentration risk where one or two clients account for more than 40% of income.
